The Kemp Homes Co. carries forward a distinguished legacy of design, quality, and enduring value established by our founder, Fred M. Kemp. Since 1952, we have been shaping the residential landscape of the St. Louis metropolitan area through thoughtfully designed homes and meticulously planned communities.
Our longevity is rooted in a hands-on, highly personalized approach to every project, an uncompromising standard of craftsmanship, and a deep commitment to the client experience. From bespoke estate residences to elegantly appointed, maintenance-free villas, every Kemp home is defined by refined detail, architectural integrity, and enduring quality.
We remain dedicated to creating exceptional homes that serve our clients today while standing the test of time for generations to come.
Since 1952, Kemp Homes has earned a distinguished reputation for designing and building homes that are both innovative and timeless. The company’s story began with its founder, Fred M. Kemp, whose passion for architecture was sparked by the drawings he encountered at Washington University’s School of Architecture. He graduated from Washington University in 1950 with a degree in architecture, becoming one of the few homebuilders of his era with formal architectural training.
Following graduation, Mr. Kemp set out to thoughtfully merge architectural integrity with suburban homebuilding, bringing well-designed, attainable homes to the St. Louis region. His vision and leadership helped shape the modern residential landscape and established a new standard for community planning and residential design.
The history of homebuilding in St. Louis would be incomplete without the enduring legacy of Fred M. Kemp. A gifted architect, industry visionary, and past president of the St. Louis Home Builders Association, Mr. Kemp was nationally recognized for his forward-thinking approach. Over the course of his career, he built more than 10,000 homes and introduced concepts that were groundbreaking at the time and are now considered industry standards. He was among the first to design communities with private parks and swimming pools, to market new homes through billboards, radio, and television, to preserve permanent open spaces—now commonly referred to as “common ground”—and to build zero-lot-line homes. His notable developments include Country Lane Woods, Meadowbrook Farms, Winding Woods, Glen Eagles, Southern Hills at The Legends, Waterford West, and Waterford Manor.
Today, Mr. Kemp’s legacy continues through his son, Bill Kemp, and partner Mark Teitelbaum. Guided by the same core principles of exceptional design, uncompromising craftsmanship, and enduring value, Kemp Homes continues to create residences that honor its heritage while meeting the expectations of today’s discerning homeowners.
